IT security for communicating automotive systems

This chapter gives an overview on information technology security for automotive systems, with the emphasis on intelligent transportation systems (ITS). The common terms of security engineering are introduced and the methodologies for security design and analysis are described. A general consideration of system and communications security under different viewpoints is made. Additionally, tools and standards for secure communication are described. Finally, a discussion of threats and countermeasures for ITS concludes the chapter.
