Abstract
We describe an image memory which is primarily designed to support high speed modules for the iconic stage of image processing. The image memory meets the specifications of the proposed open standard for vision systems known as IMAGE STAR. The most important features of the image memory include: four independently operating video ports with data rates up to 15 MHz, selectable data formats (18, 9 or 1 bit per pixel), support of subimages with unconstrained size and position, selectable scanning scheme for images and subimages (line by line, row by row; any corner of the image may serve as origin). The storage capacity is 8 MByte, it can be enlarged to 32 MByte using higher integrated DRAMs.
