The Digital Ocean Lab (DOL): Centralising Ocean Research in the Baltic Sea

Concentrating several underwater research applications into one research station directly on the sea can prove to be a cost-saving method and foster more research on maritime domains. We aim to develop a maritime research test bed in the Baltic Sea and create digital twins of the environment. These digital twins can greatly help to better understand the oceans and react to the challenges of climate change. Here we describe our technical setup and experience with maintaining this maritime research field ("DOL") and the issues we encountered.
