Für eine On-line-Recherche nach Patenten ist die Wahl der geeigneten Datenbank besonders wichtig. Am Beispiel des Forschungsgebiets der neuronalen Netze werden die Probleme der Patentrecherchen und der konkrete Ablauf einer Recherche veranschaulicht.

For online searches in patents it is important to select a suitable database depending on the search topic. A restrictive but unerring search strategy has proved to be the best form for statistical analysis. Taking the example of neural networks the search strategy developed in the article shows that patents can well be used as a source of technical information in computer technology.
