Abbaubare Kunststoffe - ein Überblick

Degradable polymers may be categorized into biodegradable polymers, photodegradable polymers and water soluble polymers. Among those three, highest contributions to solutions of environmental problems may be expected for biodegradable polymers. To maximize the energetical efficiency of the production of biodegradable polymers (preferably from renewable resources) and of the waste management paths, special attention has to be paid for minimum material use in production and maximum energy recovery in waste management. As soon as appropriate boundary conditions will exist, biodegradable polymers from renewable resources will play an important role especially for lightweight flexible packagings of food.
