Implementation of a mass customization system for clock production

This paper presents the implementation of a mass customization system for clock production. Based on a flexible assembly system, including an automated storage and retrieval system (AS/RS), automatic guided vehicle (AGV) and several manual workstations connected by modular transport system with flexible routing, a manufacturing information and control system was designed. The developed system enables customers to customize individual clocks which are produced to customer orders in batch size one in a mass production manner.
