Title
Grid-based resource management in the virtual office of the future
Abstract
Designing, developing, and utilizing the grid computing technology that will effectively support tomorrow's complex scientific and engineering applications in our office domain is an ongoing research challenge. The goal of this diploma thesis is to investigate the capabilities of grid technology in the project "Virtual Office of the Future" (VoF) domain. In a first step state-of-the-art concerning ubiquitous computing and systems for parallel and distributed computing in general, and grid computing technologies in particular, have to be analyzed. The technical contribution is to develop a prototype framework, an Eclipse Plug-In "GRM-VoF" that can be used as a starting point for analyzing, modeling and deploying grid computing technologies in the context of virtual office organizations. Finally, a demonstration grid application "GridDocument" is implemented to evaluate this grid computing framework.
