Vergleichende experimentelle Untersuchungen zur Wirkung von hochmolekularem Poly- Diallyldimethylammoniumchlorid in Papierstoffsuspensionen

Flocculation and dewatering of pulp with Poly-Diallyl-dimethylammoniumchloride - A comparison of products with different molecular weight
Abstract
Flocculation and dewatering of pulp with Poly-Diallyl-dimethylammoniumchloride - a comparison of products with different molecular weight Poly(diallyldimethylammonium chloride) (PD) is a polycation with high charge, however, up to now the molecular weight of commercial products is too low for application in the paper industry. New tailored products with high molecular weight (about 1 Million) are effective flocculants. Compared with a commercial PD of lower molar mass, the new polymers can effectively reduce the turbidity in a broader concentration range. As shown by means of laser diffraction, the average size of flocs considerably increases with polymer dosis with maximum size at the flocculation optimum.
