Axial 2D-light stripe sensor for the control of forming processes

In a deep drawing press, the forming of a sheet metal into a sink or a car door takes only few seconds. In order to draw the material homogeneously into the form, forming presses with multi-point drawing technique are used. For such presses, the Fraunhofer Institute IITB in Karlsruhe has developed a novel laser sensor. By means of it, the forming process can be surveyed and it can be controlled with optimal quality.
