Title

The development of a polarization-diversity heterodyne receiver-waveguide switch on InP

Abstract
After a brief discussion of the problem of providing terminal equipment fully to utilize the transmission capacity of the single-mode optical fibre, the article shows the proposed architecture of an optical polarization-diversity receiver in GaInAsP/InP technology. It then describes the design of the three main components, namely the rib waveguide structure, the TE/TM mode convertor using four electrodes per period, and the TE/TM mode splitter with gold deposit on the decoupling branch. Results of operation simulation calculations are given.
