Title

Atmospheric pressure plasma printing for patterned surface functionalization and coating

Abstract
A new plasma-chemical micro-patterning technique, here referred to as Plasma Printing, combines the well known advantages given by the non-equilibrium character of a dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) and its operation inside small gas volumes with dimension between tens and hundreds of micrometers. The discharge is run at atmospheric pressure and can easily be implemented for patterned surface treatments with application potentials in bio- and micro-technology. In this work the local modification of polymeric and other dielectric substrates will be addressed with respect to coating and chemical functionalization, immobilization of biomolecules and area-selective electroless plating.
