The PROFES improvement methodology assists organizations in planning, executing and monitoring improvement actions that aim at achieving specified product improvement objectives, such as reliability, maintainability, time-to-market or cost-effectiveness. PROFES integrates several well-known methods, such as process assessment, goal-oriented measurement and experience factory, into a working methodology that can easily be tailored to different needs. This user manual contains practical steps on how to do product-focused process improvement in modern software engineering organizations. A set of templates for supporting improvement and guidance for tailoring the methodology are also provided.
