Title

Analysis of turbo-coded MIMO-systems for noncoherent communication using EXIT-charts

Abstract
We propose a "turbo" coding scheme consisting of the concatenation of a block code or a convolutional code as the outer code and a unitary space-time coded modulation scheme as the inner code, respectively. At the receiver, we apply iterative detecting and decoding. The channel is assumed to be flat Rayleigh fading. Neither the transmitter nor the receiver has channel state information. Extrinsic information transfer characteristics of receiver components are used to predict the performance and behavior of the whole system. We compare our scheme with the uncoded system in [1], [2] and the scheme proposed in [3]. Simulation results show significant improvements in comparison to the uncoded system considered in [1], [2].
