Structure oriented design opens up new perspectives for product development. It includes the integrated treatment of elements of the product structure, features and geometry. This results in the possibility of designing products independently from the geometry. Furthermore the use of feature semantics is optimized. This article describes a system for structure oriented product design based on a feature modelling system.
