Diode and DPSS laser trends and applications

With the advent of high power diode Lasers having lifetimes in excess of 10,000 hours at long term operational power levels around 50W per diode bar, diode-pumped solid state lasers are increasingly becoming regarded as next generation laser sources. The main reason for this trend is the combination of laser efficiencies in the range of 15 to 25%, powers of several kW and ease of optical fibre delivery.
