Large areas of human problem-solving processes defy computer-based automation. Based on an analysis of the changing cognitive demands in todays working conditions, Arbeitsinformatik (cognitive engineering) is developing the concept of an assisting problem- interface. The goal of this interdisciplinary research and development approach is the conception of tools for a comprehensive support of cognitive problem- solving processes.
