The use of EPDs in building assessment - towards the complete picture

The environmental impacts of buildings occur throughout all life cycle phases. To overcome the shifting of burdens from one life cycle phase to another when deciding between options, the life cycle perspective needs to be regarded by the design and planning teams. An environmental assessment needs to be tailored to the unique building and carried out according to specific design and surrounding conditions. At the same time, the building assessment has to be applicable in practice.
