Title
A Multistatic Over-the-Horizon Radar Simulator
Abstract
A multistatic Over-the Horizon (OTH) radar network can offer long-range, wide-area early warning for distant threats, such as ballistic and hypersonic missiles. Signal processing algorithms applied at the receiver side need a large amount of testing data for their development. However, acquiring realworld experimental data is difficult and expensive and may even be impossible. To this end, a multistatic OTH radar simulator is developed to supply development and testing phases of target localization and tracking algorithms with required radar data. First, from a collection of target trajectories, which can be obtained by real measured, simulated or ADS-B data, a simulation scenario is built up and visualized. Then, simulated radar output without or with uncertainty information is computed. This paper describes the successfully developed radar simulator: what it does, components, models & algorithms, features & possibilities, an example simulation and experiences of development and use.
