Plasma fluctuations in laser welding with cw-CO2-lasers
Abstract
In laser welding the laser induced plasma governs the process of energy coupling into the workpiece. Using a cw-CO2-laser, the plasma shows temporal and spatial fluctuations with typical frequencies. During these fluctuations the plasma could disappear completely correlation between the plasma fluctuations and the dynamics of the molten metal. (ILT)
