Experiences with advanced NDE-methods in large scale vessels projects

In the framework of the German Reactor Safety Programme besides larger nuclear components three pressure vessels in 1:1 scale are available (figure 1). The capability of differently refined and newly developed NDE techniques is demonstrated under in-situ conditions. It will be shown how different techniques such as ultrasonics and electromagnetics as well acoustic emission can detect resp. analyze the various defect configurations.
