Nondestructive testing of coatings

Abstract
The paper describes several thermal and elastic wave methods investigated in our institute for their application to test the integrity and estimate the thickness of coatings. Their advantages and disadvantages for special sample types are discussed. The examples discussed cover different coating-substrate material combinations including a model sample with artifical damage as well as "real" samples, e.g. sheets with a typical lacquer for cars
