The invention relates to a process for the treatment of roughened surfaces and areas existing in glass surfaces, whereby a coating meterial containing a hydrolytic condensation product comprising an organo-functional silane, at least one metal compound and an organic prepolymer interlinked with this hydrolytic condensate are applied to the roughened surfaces/areas and hardened there.
