Title
METALLHALTIGE RIBONUKLEOTIDPOLYPEPTIDE
Other Title
New metal-containing ribonucleotide proteins with nuclease and phosphatase activities, used e.g. for cell-selective inhibition of protein synthesis and inhibition of tumors
Abstract
NOVELTY - Metal-containing ribonucleotide-proteins (A) comprise a protein (I) of the S-100 family, a copper ion and one of four RNAs, designated clones 4-1b, 238/1, 238/2 or 238/3 of about 340, 130, 120 and 290 nucleotides, respectively (all sequences given in the specification). DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is also included for preparation of (A). ACTIVITY - Antitumor; angiomorphogenic. MECHANISM OF ACTION - (A) have both nuclease and phosphatase activities. USE - (A), and their molecular-biological equivalents, fragments and/or derivatives are used for structural analysis of nucleic acids, nucleotides and nucleosides (specifically deamination of (deoxy)adenosine or guanosine or hydrolysis of (deoxy)inosine, guanosine, phosphate mono- or di-esters, also of nucleic acid substrates); for cell-selective, reversible inhibition of protein biosynthesis in endothelial cells; for inhibition of blood vessel endothelial cells; for specific modulation of blood vessel formation (an giomorphogenesis) in vitro or in vivo, particularly in cases of heart and vascular disease, wound healing, transplant surgery and inhibition of tumor growth; for cell-selective transfer of genetic information; for diagnosing changes in growth of blood vessels; and for production of (deoxy)adenosine, (deoxy)guanosine, inosine, adenine, guanine, or (hypo)xanthine, or of nucleic acid in vivo or in vitro. DESCRIPTION OF DRAWING(S) - Energy-minimized secondary structure for the RNA designated clone 4-1b.
