Abstract
NOVELTY - Coating material based on liquid crystal polysiloxane is obtained by condensation of mesogenic, hydrolysable silane or polysiloxane with Orcomer (sic) solutions. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - The Orcomer solutions are produced by hydrolytic condensation of a crosslinkable organo-functional silane optionally in presence of a condensation catalyst and/or additives. USE - Used as a barrier coating layer, especially 1-50 mu m thick (claimed). Typically, the barrier layers are used on polyamide-6 films. ADVANTAGE - The coatings combine good barrier properties with good adhesion to the substrate, as well as good abrasion and scratch resistance.
