In order to separate and convey the first sheet or sheet stack (3) by simple means, an elastic friction finger (4) contacting the top-most sheets of the stack under light pressure is provided, offset at a direction (A, B) inclined at a specific angle (alpha) to the stack surface in a to and fro movement of small amplitude and relative high frequency. The stack itself is inclined to the rear in relation to the horizontal by a specific angle (beta). The friction finger (4) by a bellow (5) connected to a valve-less pump (7), a pneumatic cylinder or a crank mechanism. Furthermore, it is possible to connect a pneumatic cylinder provided with ventilation boreholes controlled by the piston to a supply line under constant pressure or vacuum.
