Title
Strahlungsquelle und Verfahren zum Erzeugen von Roentgenstrahlung
Other Title
Radiation source for generating X-ray radiation useful in an X-ray computer tomograph, comprises an evacuated chamber, a unit for generating electron beams running in electron-beam direction and in the evacuated chamber, and a target unit
Abstract

WO 2009146827 A1 UPAB: 20100107 NOVELTY - The radiation source (1) comprises an evacuated chamber (3), a unit for generating an electron beam (6)running in an electron-beam direction and in the evacuated chamber, and a target unit, which has a fluid line (10) running transverse to the electron-beam direction with a fluid disposed in it. An interaction zone is producible by cooperating the electron-beam and the fluid to generate X-ray radiation (2). A part of the fluid line is permeably formed for the electron beam, so that the interaction zone is producible within the fluid line. The fluid is completely surrounded by the fluid line. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - The radiation source (1) comprises an evacuated chamber (3), a unit for generating an electron beam (6) running in an electron-beam direction and in the evacuated chamber, and a target unit, which has a fluid line (10) running transverse to the electron-beam direction with a fluid disposed in it. An interaction zone is producible by cooperating the electron-beam and the fluid for generating X-ray radiation (2). A part of the fluid line is permeably formed for the electron beam, so that the interaction zone is producible within the fluid line. The fluid is completely surrounded by the fluid line towards the chamber. The target unit is designed in such a way that the X-ray radiation is emittable in the electron-beam direction. The permeable part of the fluid line consists of a material made of several chemical elements, which have highest ordinal number of 14, has a dimension of highly 500 mu m transverse to the electron-beam direction, and is formed as entrance windows, which is tightly arranged in a recess of a line wall of the fluid line. The fluid line has a supply section with a first interior cross-section area (A1) and an impinging section comprising the permeable part of the fluid line with a second interior cross-section area (A2), where a ratio of the first interior cross-section area to the second interior cross-section area is larger than 100. A funnel-shaped running transition section is formed between the supply section and the impinging section. The impinging section has an inner dimension of highly 100 mu m along the electron-beam direction. The target unit has a fluid pump, and a fluid cooling unit. The fluid consists of a material made of several chemical elements, which have highest ordinal number of 50. An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for a method for generating X-ray radiation. USE - Radiation source for generating X-ray radiation useful in an X-ray computer tomograph (claimed) during the non-destruction of test sample of objects. ADVANTAGE - The radiation source is capable of effectively and simply generating high-energy X-ray radiation with high output power, high efficiency, high reliability and high functionality thus ensuring good image quality with fast shutter speed, enables good heat removal from the interaction zone, and prevents fluid from entering the chamber.
