Title

Other Title
Composite structure for gas and liquid filtration and for high temperature applications, such as gas separations with the exception of oxygen removal comprises a hollow fiber made from gas- or liquid-transporting ceramic material
Abstract

WO 2006081957 A1 UPAB: 20061101 NOVELTY - Composite structure comprises a hollow fiber made from gas- or liquid-transporting ceramic material having an outer surface in contact with the outer surface of a similar fiber, in which the contact points are joined by sintering. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is also included for a process for the production of the composite structure comprising forming a green fiber by extruding through an annular nozzle a composition containing a polymer, an oxide ceramic or a precursor for a ceramic in the known manner, forming a green composite from one or more green hollow fibers by producing contacts between the outer surfaces of the green hollow fibers and thermally treating the green composite produced to remove the polymer and to form the contact between the ceramic hollow fibers and optionally the oxide ceramic. USE - For gas and liquid filtration and for high temperature applications, such as gas separations with the exception of oxygen removal. ADVANTAGE - The composite structure has high stability and is easy to handle.
