The invention relates to waste lye from the chemical and thermal decomposition of already processed chipboard and fibreboard containing binding agent. The waste lye is produced in a process by which the already processed wooden chipboard and fibreboard are first ground into chips and in the next step are decomposed using a chemical and thermal process by breaking up the wood structure. The liquid occurring after separating the cellulose is isolated in the form of waste lye.
