Other Title
Electron-induced material deposition process - esp. for conductive structure deposition on non-conductive substrate.
Abstract

DE 4338478 C UPAB: 19941206 In an electron-induced material deposition process, an electrically conductive structure (2) is deposited on a substrate (1). Improvement is that (a) an earthed, electrically conductive body (3) is positioned at a small distance from the substrate surface; (b) an electrically conductive connection (4) is produced from the body to the substrate surface by electron-induced deposition; (c) the conductive connection is advanced towards the substrate surface to a point at which deposition of the structure (2) begins; (d) the structure is produced by electron-induced deposition starting from the conductive connection; and (e) the conductive connection is at least partially removed. USE - Esp. for material deposition onto electrically non-conductive substrates, e.g. for prodn. of scanning tips on quartz oscillators for atomic force microscopy. ADVANTAGE - The process permits electron-induced deposition of conductive materials onto non-conductive substrates, while reliably preventing charging of the substrate in a simple manner, and no subsequent expensive processing of the structure is required.
