Title
Verfahren zur Erhoehung der Verschleissfestigkeit der Oberflaechenschicht eines Werkstueckes aus einem Stahlwerkstoff oder aus Gusseisen
Other Title
Process for the increase of the wearability of the surface coating of a workpiece made of a steel material or cast iron
Abstract
In a process for the increase of the wearability of the surface coating of a workpiece made of a steel material or cast iron, whereby the surface coating is melted for a short time in an adjacent region of the workpiece surface (1) and additives are added to the melt (4), manganese and carbon are alloyed to the melt (4). The concentration of manganese in the melt (4) referred to mass is set to preferably minimum 8 percent and maximum 16 percent where the manganese : carbon concentration ratio is minimum 8 : 1 and maximum 12 : 1. Thus the workpiece surface (1) obtains a hardness and a work-hardening whose values can correspond to those of conventional, solid produced hard manganese steels. To increase the abrasive resistance of the workpiece surface (1), a metal oxide or metal carbide, preferably titanium or vanadium carbide, is also added to the melt (4) in a concentration referred to mass of minimum 5 percent and maximum 30 percent in order to form a dispersion.
