The pressure sensor has a non-conductive base substrate (1), carrying at least one pair of relatively insulated interdigitated electrodes (E1,E2), overlaid by a flexible non-conductive carrier layer (3) provided with conductive deformation elements (4)on its underside, cooperating with the interdigitated electrode pairs. Pref. the deformation elements are provided by conductive elastomer pyramids, providing a bride between the interdigitated electrodes in dependence on the pressure applied to the top surface of the carrier layer.
