Other Title
Process for the hard coating of objects made of wax
Abstract
The invention relates to a process for the hard coating of objects made of wax characterized by the fact that a) a conventional cellulose nitrate varnish, whose boiling-point range maximum of volatile components does not lie above 135<degress Celsius>C, it has a solids content of at least 10% by weight, and the drying process takes place at a room temperature up to 5<degrees Celsius>C below the melting point of the wax until the varnish coating has thoroughly dried, said coating being applied to the object made of wax; and subsequently b) a conventional hard coating varnish is applied, said varnish being obtained by the hydrolytic polycondensation of a mixture composed of one or several hydrolyzable titanium, zirkon or aluminium compounds or of mixtures thereof and one or several organofunctional silanes having 1 to 3 hydrolyzable groups, following which the coated object is dried at a room temperature of up to 5<degrees Celsius>C under the melting point of the wax until the hard coati ng is fully hardened.
