Abstract
Monitoring cell comprises (a) a housing with walls enclosing an interior space and at least one base plate, where the housing is provided with a media supplying inlet on a side of the interior space and a media outlet on at least one other side of the interior space, and with a number of electrodes arranged in the interior space, and (b) at least one first receiving device (11) for accommodating a carrier object (8) and at least one second receiving device for accommodating a cell substrate (9), or at least one receiving device for accommodating the carrier object and the cell substrate. Monitoring cell for analyzing a cell and tissue growth, comprises (a) a housing with walls enclosing an interior space and at least one base plate, where the housing is provided with at least one media supplying inlet on at least one side of the interior space and at least one media outlet on at least one other side of the interior space, and with a number of electrodes arranged in the interior space, and (b) at least one first receiving device (11) for accommodating at least one carrier object (8) and at least one second receiving device for accommodating at least one cell substrate (9), or at least one receiving device for accommodating at least one carrier object and at least one cell substrate, where at least one slit (50); is present between the carrier object and the cell substrate at the starting time of the analysis such that an in vivo situation to be imaged in vitro between the carrier to be colonized and the substrate is reproduced. The electrodes (20) are designed both to generate spatially and temporally defined electrical and/or electromagnetic fields and as a unit for measuring electrical quantities. An independent claim is also included for non-test-terminating, spatiotemporal in vitro-monitoring of the growth of the cells or tissue, comprising (i) accommodating the carrier object in the first receiving device of the monitoring cell, (ii) accommodating the cell substrate in the second receiving device of the cell monitoring such that the slit having a gap width exists between the carrier object and the cell substrate, (iii) supplying the medium, (iv) generating spatially and temporally defined electrical and/or electromagnetic fields in the monitoring cell, and (v) acquiring and storing measured variables of the electrical and/or electromagnetic fields.
