Abstract
The photodetector has a number of adjacent but separate rhomboidal photoelectric elements (12,14,16). Each three photoelectric elements are grouped together to form a hexagonal detector cell. Each photoelectric element can be individually electrically contacted. A detector surface made up of a number of photoelectric elements is designed so that it describes a regular hexagon (80) with optimal surface coverage. There is at least one radiation source mounted centrally in the surface of the photodetector. ADVANTAGE - Improved measurement reliability and reduced colour interference effects are achieved in sensor arrangement which can be manufactured rapidly, in compact form and cost-effectively.
