Title

Other Title
Fish rearing tanks in which the quality of the recirculated water is monitored and controlled by a central processor.
Abstract

DE 19961142 A UPAB: 20000918 NOVELTY - The figure shows the rearing tanks (10), the central processor (80) and the water treatment circuit. On the supply side, food is metered (100,104) and the water is oxygenated (13). Water is drawn off the tanks both at the top (18a) and the bottom (19b). The water drawn off the bottom will contain detritus that settles out in a tank (20). DETAILED DESCRIPTION - The figure shows the rearing tanks (10), the central processor (80) and the water treatment circuit. On the supply side, food is metered (100,104) and the water is oxygenated (13). Water is drawn off the tanks both at the top (18a) and the bottom (19b). The water drawn off the bottom will contain detritus that settles out in a tank (20). The recirculated water is checked for oxygen concentration, pH and redox potential at various stages. Nitrates, due to excretion products, are removed in a vessel (40) by the addition of methanol. This addition is proportional to the pH of the water in vessel (40). The pH measurement at this point also controls the food addition by metering device (104) in a proportional manner. Macromolecules are removed in the foam vessel (50) by the addition of ozone at a rate determined by processor (80) to prevent contamination. New water, at a rate of approximately 10% of the flow rate in the treatment circuit, is added at (120). Buffer solution is also added at given intervals. USE - The automatic control of water quality and food supply in intensively operated fish rearing tanks. ADVANTAGE - The best rearing conditions can be maintained automatically.
