Chitinopeptins, their use and recombinant synthesis in organisms for plant protection

The invention is based on an unexpected antimicrobial effect of Chitinopeptin A and its iron(III) complex against the Gram-negative bacterium Xylella fastidiosa. In a first aspect, the invention pertains to a peptide comprising a chain of amino acids as shown in this document, and in a second aspect to a complex of said peptide. In further aspects, the invention pertains to a nucleic acid encoding for the peptide, a non-ribosomal peptide synthetase (NRPS), a vector and a cell comprising the previously mentioned subject matter. Additionally, the invention pertains to a plant protection agent and a method of manufacturing the aforementioned subject matter. Based on the unexpected antimicrobial effect of Chitinopeptin A, furthermore a use of the peptide, a plant protection agent, a plant protection composition and a method for the treatment of a disease and/or increasing resistance against infection in a plant is disclosed.
