Title
Other Title
Production of material containing indium-tin oxide, used for coating, antistatic finishing, opto-electronic purposes or making screen printing paste, involves incorporating powder or aqueous dispersion in water-based binder system.
Abstract

DE 10261541 A UPAB: 20040805 NOVELTY - Production of material containing indium-tin oxide (ITO) comprises (1) dispersing ITO powder in a solvent containing mainly water and (2) incorporating this material in a water-based or water-soluble binder system. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are also included for the following: (1) production of material containing ITO by incorporating ITO powder in a water-based or water-soluble binder system; (2) the materials obtained by these methods; (3) production of a coating, especially surface coating, by applying a thin layer of one of the materials to the surface and then drying and/or hardening or baking; (4) the coatings obtained. USE - The materials are used for coating surfaces and objects, for antistatic finishing and for opto-electronic purposes (all claimed). They can also be used for producing screen printing pastes. ADVANTAGE - Electroconductive and optically transparent coatings containing indium-tin oxide (ITO) are usually produced by a sputtering process, which is costly. Application of lacquers (usually acrylic lacquers or polyamides) containing particles, aggregates or agglomerates of or containing ITO is cheaper and simpler. However, accurate formulation, which is costly and complex is needed to obtain the required properties. The present process is simpler, as it does not require a costly dispersion process. It generally gives materials containing 1-90 wt.% ITO, which give optically transparent, wlectroconductive and heat-absorbing coatings.
