Abstract
The microvalve has a base body (34) with a flow opening controlled by a valve element (14), supported by a mounting (12) associated with a piezoelectric drive (10), supplied with an operating voltage for opening or closing the valve. The operating drive exhibits a variation in length between the opposite ends to which the mounting are attached in response to the applied voltage, causing flexure of the mounting for movement of the valve element in the perpendicular direction. The mounting is secured to the base body at two spaced points to allow free rotation of the valve element. USE - For automobile applications. ADVANTAGE - Reduced overall size.
