Die Erfindung betrifft eine Hohlkathoden-Plasmaquelle sowie die Verwendung der Hohlkathoden-Plasmaquelle. Die erfindungsgemaesse Vorrichtung basiert auf der Grundlage des Hohlkathoden-Effektes insbesondere wird sie zum Gasflusssputtern fuer die Beschichtung von Gegenstaenden mittels physikalischer Dampfabscheidung im Vakuum eingesetzt. Dabei betrifft die Erfindung insbesondere die Art und Weise der aeusseren elektrischen Isolation der Kathode und der uebrigen Bauteile die das gleiche elektrische Potential fuehren.
