Abstract
Erleutert wird ein Verfahren, bei dem aus Werten der Filterkoeffizienten einer Entzerrereinheit (24) die Uebertragungseigenschaften einer Uebertragungsstrecke (16) ermittelt werden. Die Uebertragungseigenschaften koennen waehrend der Uebertragung von Nutzdaten ueber die Uebertragungsstrecke (16) ermittelt werden, ohne dass sich die Nutzdatenrate vermindert.

The values from the filter coefficients are used to determine functions for weighting, transmission, step response or frequency for the transmission link matching the step response. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are also included for the following; (1) a receiving device for determining the transmission properties of a transmission link, (2) for a device for determining the transmission properties of an echo link; (3) for a program with a sequence of commands to execute the method of the present invention by using a processor. ADVANTAGE - An echo equalizer (22) fed with second input signal values (xA(k)) uses the first input signal values and filter coefficient values to calculate output signal values that imitate an echo generated by an echo link (38). A drop in transmission rate does not occur, because no additional test signal like a training sequence is required.
