Title
Vorrichtung und Verfahren zur Erfassung von Hindernissen
Other Title
Obstacle detection device for use in robot, has sensor designed as swingable rod that stands in effective connection with measuring and evaluation device for detection of acceleration change of swingable rod
Abstract

DE 102005005230 A1 UPAB: 20060922 NOVELTY - The device has a sensor detecting an obstacle and designed as a swingable rod (1). The swingable rod is connected with a moving device (2) for three-dimensional movement of the rod. The swingable rod stands in effective connection with a measuring and evaluation device (6) for the detection of acceleration change of the swingable rod. The measuring and evaluation device has an acceleration sensor (5) that is attached to the rod. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is also included for a method of detection of an obstacle in a locomotion direction of a locomotive object. USE - Used in a robot (claimed) for detection of an obstacle in a locomotion direction of a locomotive object. ADVANTAGE - The swingable rod stands in effective connection with the measuring and evaluation device for the detection of the acceleration change of the swingable rod, thus scanning large environmental area independently of the condition of the environment. The device enables identification of the obstacle in an easy manner, independent of the type of the environment, from materials of the obstacle. The device is simple and inexpensive. The sensor that implements the three-dimensional movement tramps and/or palms the whole area before the robot penetrates into the area, thus avoiding damages at the robot, which are cost-intensive.
