Title

Verfahren zur Herstellung von aufschaeumbaren Metallen oder Metallschaeumen

Other Title
Production of metals which foam on heat treatment or metal foams comprises suspending a propellant which splits gas on heat treatment in a galvanic electrolyte, and galvanically depositing the metal with the electrolyte on a substrate.
Abstract

DE 10123585 C UPAB: 20030101 NOVELTY - Production of metals which foam on heat treatment or metal foams comprises: suspending a propellant which splits gas on heat treatment in a galvanic electrolyte; and galvanically depositing the metal with the electrolyte on a substrate. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - Preferred Features: The propellant is added to the electrolyte as pure powder or in encapsulated form. The propellant particles are held in suspension during deposition in the electrolyte or during production of hydrodynamics in the electrolyte. The hydrodynamics are produced by blowing air into the electrolyte, by circulating the electrolyte and/or by subjecting the electrolyte to ultrasound. Cu, Ni, Co, Cr, Fe, Ag, Au, Zn, Sn, Pb or their alloys are deposited. The electrolyte is a protic system, an aprotic system or a molten salt. USE - Used as lightweight insulating structures in the car industry and machine construction. ADVANTAGE - The metal foams can be easily produced.
