The description relates to a process and a device for applying adhesive labels on a workpiece, whereby the adhesive labels arranged on a carrier strip are provided by means of a dispensing unit. The invention is characterized by the adhesive labels being removed from the carrier strip by means of a gripper moved by a multiaxis positioning unit (industrial robot) and being applied to the workpiece which is fed into the working range of the positioning unit.
