Abstract
NOVELTY - The method involves focusing radiation to a focal point (8), which is moved perpendicularly through the boundary surfaces (9-11), by moving the source and a lens carrier (2) relative to a reference point. A reflected portion of the radiation is detected, to determine the diameter of the smallest reflection spot, and the lens carrier position is determined. The distance between positions gives a measure of the distance between boundary surfaces. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is also included for a device for measuring the distance between boundary surfaces of transparent media. USE - For vision aids, cameras or projectors. Also for detecting the thickness of windows. ADVANTAGE - Allows the use of focus sensors.
