Abstract
The gripper system has a linear guide (1) for guiding the movement of a pair of displacement elements (9,10), each having a pair of carriages (9a,9b ; 10a,10b) and a piezoelectric setting element positioned between them, for action parallel to the linear guide, for indexing the movement of the displacement elements. Each carriage has a further piezoelectric setting element perpendicular to the linear guide, associated with gripper plates (13) mounted in the opposing carriages (9b,10a) of the displacement elements. USE - For precision handling of microstructures, for precision machining system or for molecular biology laboratory. ADVANTAGE - Provides positioning accuracy in micrometer range.
