A device for determining objects in a colour photograph comprises an identifier, a feature extractor and a classifier. The identifier is designed to identify, from a plurality of continuous regions present in a binary image derived from the colour photograph, on the basis of a size or a form of said continuous regions, that continuous region having a size or form corresponding to a predetermined condition. The feature extractor is designed to extract, for each of the continuous regions identified, a set of features from the colour photograph. The classifier is designed to classify the identified continuous regions into at least two disjoint groups on the basis of the extracted sets of features for the identified continuous regions.
