the cyclone (1) separates solids from liquids. It has a pipe (11) though which the dirty liquid enters an upper cylindrical portion of a first separation chamber (2) tangentially. The bottom portion (3) of the walls of the chamber taper so that the bottom part of the chamber is conical. An outlet pipe for clean liquid extends through the chamber. Its inlet (16) is in the top of a large diameter vertical tube (15) just below the bottom end of the first separation chamber. This tube acts as a second separation chamber there is a conical plate (23), supported at the bottom by a vertical rod in a third chamber in which the separated solid material may be collected.
