Title

Verfahren und Vorrichtung zur Dekontamination metallhaltiger und/oder radioaktiv belasteter Waesser

Other Title
Decontamination of metal-containing and/or radioactive-contaminated water comprises adsorbing cationic metals and/or radionuclides on cationic exchanger and removing anionic forms by electrochemical separation.
Abstract

;

WO 200157049 A UPAB: 20010914 NOVELTY - Decontamination of metal-containing and/or radioactive- contaminated water containing heavy metals, semi-metals and/or radionuclides comprises optionally removing insoluble components, adsorbing the cationic metals and/or radionuclides on a cationic exchanger and removing the anionic metals and/or radionuclides by electrochemical separation, each step being performed at least once. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - Decontamination for metal-containing and/or radioactive-contaminated water containing heavy metals, semi-metals and/or radionuclides comprises optionally removing insoluble components, adsorbing the cationic metals and/or radionuclides on a cationic exchanger and removing the anionic metals and/or radionuclides by electrochemical separation, each step being performed at least once. An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for an apparatus for use in the above process comprising a filtration unit for removing insoluble components, a chromatography column(s) with a cation exchanger charged with acids or lye and an electrochemical reaction chamber(s) for removing the anionic forms and charged with acids. USE - For decontaminating water. ADVANTAGE - The process is efficient and environmentally friendly and produces much less waste. The metal content can be regenerated in a mechanically stable and simple manner.
