Stimulation cell and method for in-vitro stimulation of cells or tissue in a stimulation cell. In the stimulation cell, a carrier (36) which can be populated at least over regions of the surface thereof by cells or tissue, and at least one actuator which is designed such that, on the surface of the carrier (36), a dosable gradient having an effect that stimulates the growth of the cells or tissue can be topically induced, are present in an interior chamber (10) of the stimulation cell. The method is performed by means of the following steps: introducing a cell substrate (20), which carries the cells or tissue, into an interior chamber (10) of a stimulation cell; inserting a carrier (36), which can be populated or is already populated at least over populatable regions of the surface thereof by the cells or tissue, into a receiving device (30) in the interior chamber (10) of the stimulation cell; introducing a medium (M) for the physiological supply of cells or tissue; and inducing at least one dosable, topical gradient having an effect on the surface of the carrier (36) that stimulates the growth of the cells or tissue.
