Abstract
The description refers to a process for processing an object by means of at least one processing device having a processing unit by which the processing device is positioned ahead of the processing object, and a subarea of the surface of the object to be processed facing the distance sensor is sampled by a distance sensor, a sampling pattern recovered from the sampling signal is compared with a stored reference model of the object to be processed, and from this, the distance and the orientation of the processing device relative to the object to be processed is determined. According to the invention, it is foreseen that the object to be processed is sampled by a sensor having a distance resolution feature in a process step preceding the comparison of the sampling pattern generated by the distance sensor with the stored reference model of the object to be processed, that the pattern of the object to be processed and generated by this sensor is compared with its reference model and the de viations between the sampled pattern and the stored reference model are determined, and that the stored reference model of the object is modified at least partially in accordance with the determined deviations, and the modified reference model generated in this way is used to determine the relative position of the processing device.
